HAPPY BURNING DAY (Thai text below)
May 1st is Labor Day and it is also the day the fires are allowed again after the governor banned burning since the beginning of the year. This ban ends on April 30th.
On May 1st, we will see people going to burn after holding back for a long time.
When they burn, the air gets bad, PM 2.5 increases, and their health is affected.
But yesterday, at Nampreh Leaf Station (Sathani Baimai) there were 60 people from 12 sub-districts in Hangdong District but also from Mae Taeng, Chiang Dao, San Sai, Saraphi, San Pa Tong, Omkoi, Doi Lor.
There were also officials at the district level, Permanent Secretary and officials of Nam Phrae Phatthana Subdistrict Municipality, District Agriculture Dept, Public Health, and Community Development officials all gathered at this garden of the Mae Su Baimai Station in Nampreh.
They all came to learn from Professor Dr. Saenwasan Yodkham, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Agricultural Industry, Maejo University. about the easiest way to make compost without having to turn the compost piles (but just water it instead)
This helps reduce burning and reduce PM 2.5
Although burning leaves in the community creates PM2.5, it is second only to smoke from cars, factories, etc.
But taking action to reduce burning in households and communities is something everyone can help to do. This way, we get cleaner, healthier air and we also get quality compost to use in our gardens or to sell for income.
“Making compost is a good thing but I want you to continue doing this and make yourself self-reliant” This is the golden sentence of the Hangdong District Chief.
District Agriculture Officer said that it promotes group integration because there are many areas already doing it.
And it promotes raising the level of activities by inviting the registration of community enterprises.
We invite every community
-to have a leaf station,
-to register a community enterprise
-to make compost, like 10 tons per area,
-send it to Maejo University to check the quality,
-then take it to distribute together.
The resounding question is “Who will buy the compost?”

He asked, “If you find a rich person to help you buy leaves from the villagers, would it be good to come to Tom?
We answered that it was not good.
It would be better to have him buy the compost because that:
1. Helps build groups,
2. Create jobs,
3. Create income,
4. Create microorganisms for the soil
5. To grow Organic food and
6. Clean air for every human being.
Our next mission is “Challenge that rich person to come support our Peoples Compost. We believe we can do it because he wants good air to breathe.

The objective was not really to end the burning but to create more leaf stations…in every community, every village, every subdistrict… to create cleaner air for every breath, for everyone…

แต่ที่สถานีใบไม้ผู้คน ร่วม60 ชีวิต จาก12 ตำบลในอำเภอหาง สมาชิกผู้ตรวจแปลงจากหลายอำเภอ ทั้งแม่แตง เชียงดาว สันทราย สารภี สันป่าตอง อมก๋อย ดอยหล่อ
มีข้าราชการระดับนายอำเภอ ปลัดและเจ้าหน้าที่เทศบาลตำบลน้ำแพร่พัฒนา เกษตรอำเภอ เจ้าหน้าที่เกษตร สาธารณสุข พัฒนาชุมชน มารวมกันอยู่ที่สถานีใบไม้สวนแม่สุแห่งนี้ เพื่อเรียนรู้เรื่องการทำปุ๋ยแบบไม่พลิกกลับกอง จากอาจารย์ด๊อกเตอร์ แสนวสันต์ ยอดคำ รองคณบดี คณะวิศกรรมและอุตสาหกรรมการเกษตร ม.แม่โจ้
เพื่อจะช่วยกันลดการเผาและลดพีเอ็ม 2.5
แม้การเผาใบไม้ในชุมชนจะสร้างพีเอ็ม2.5 เป็นอันดับรองๆ จากควันรถ โรงงาน ฯลฯ แต่การลงมือลดการเผาในครัวเรือนและชุมชน เป็นสิ่งที่ทุกคนช่วยกันทำได้ ทำแล้วเราได้อากาศสะอาด สุขภาพดี แล้วเรายังได้ปุ๋ยคุณภาพมาใช้ในสวนของเราหรือขายเป็นรายได้
“การทำปุ๋ยเป็นเรื่องดีที่น่าทำ แต่อยากให้ทำต่อเนื่องและทำให้พึ่งตัวเองได้” คือประโยคทองของท่านนายอำเภอหางดง
ท่านเกษตรอำเภอ ก็ส่งเสริมการรวมกลุ่มเพราะมีหลายพื้นที่ทำอยู่แล้ว และส่งเสริมให้ยกระดับด้วยการชวนจดวิสาหกิจชุมชน
เราก็อยากชวนทุกชุมชนให้มีสถานีใบไม้ จดวิสาหกิจชุมชน ลงมือทำปุ๋ยหมัก พื้นที่ละ10 ตัน ส่งให้ ม.แม่โจ้ตรวจคุณภาพแล้วเอามา Vายด้วยกัน
คำถามดังๆ ก้องมาคือ “ใครจะซื้อ”
ช่วงก่อนสงกรานต์ ธรรมะจัดสรรให้เราได้เจอผู้ใหญ่ที่เราเคารพนับถือ
ท่านถามว่า”ถ้าหาคนรวยช่วยชื้อใบไม้จากชาวบ้าน มาให้ต้อมจะดีไหม?
เราตอบเลยว่าไม่ดี ให้เขาช่วยซืออปุ๋ยจะดีกว่า เพราะช่วยสร้างกลุ่ม สร้างงาน สร้างรายได้ สร้างจุลินทรีย์ให้แก่ดินอ อาหารอินทรีย์และอากาศสะอาดให้แก่มนุษย์ทุกคน
ภารกิจต่อไปของเราคือ “ท้าทายให้คนรวยคนนั้น มาอุดหนุนปุ๋ยของชาวเรา
เราเชื่อมั่นว่าเราจะทำได้ เพราะรู้ว่าเขาอยากได้อากาศดีไว้หายใจ
อาจารย์ยุพินเคยบอกว่าใบไม้คือทองคำ วิทยากรหลักของเราวันนี้ คือ
อาจารย์แสนวสันต์ ยอดคำ และ นายอำเภอ ชลิต ทิพย์คำ
คำ ในภาษาเหนือ แปลว่าทอง ถือว่าเรามีทองมาจากสองแหล่ง ใหญ่
ใครลงมือทำปุ๋ย ต้องมีแต่รวยกับรวย
