INSECT REPPELLING AND ATTRACTING ESSENTIAL OILS (EO)
Did you know?
When an EO is located in the root, bark or leaves of a plant it is to defend against predators.
But when the EO is found in flowers and fruits, it is produced to attract pollinating creatures.
Just remember that you should never apply pure EOs directly on the skin. Always dilute them in a carrier oil or lotion.
RESEARCH around the world confirms that certain EOs not only repel insects, but also have contact and fumigant insecticidal actions against specific pests.
Since they have been proven to be so effective in deterring a wide range of insects, natural crop protection sprays are being developed on a commercial scale to replace those that we now know have a serious impact on wildlife and the environment.
Lotion potion : Our Aroma Natural Insect Repellent Lotion contains an expert blend of insect-repelling EOs. Many of them you will know already like Citronella, Eucalyptus, Lemongrass, Clove Bud.
This gentle hypo-allergenic lotion is also enriched with moisturising oils and soothing botanicals to keep your skin in great condition.
Our natural Aroma lotion has one more advantage because it helps BEFORE and AFTER, meaning that it effectively repels insects but will also soothe itchy insect bites…
How long ? About 7 to 8 hours, tested here on our certified organic farm which has a lot of buzzing insects.
Want to make your own bug busting lotion?
Wearing your aromatic armoury is still the best defence.
Mix one essential oil (or up to four) in a Carrier Lotion like coconut, adding 1 drop of essential oil for every 5 mls of lotion, and apply it to your exposed body parts for a natural insect repellent. You can use a carrier oil instead of lotion, but that will leave your skin a little greasy. Since insect repellent essential oils are not as powerful as the chemical ones you normally need to re-apply your blend more often for it to remain effective.
Experiment a little with your choice of insect repellant essential oils to find what works best on the native species in your country. But wherever you are, real essential oils offer the best and safest form of tactical support to fight hostile invaders whilst you are enjoying the great outdoors. I am not talking about the chemical lab copies.
