MOXA (Artemisia Argiye) is a wonderful herb we grow abundantly in the garden. The leaves are ground into Moxa wool and then rolled into cigars. These herbs are used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat and prevent disease by activating energy circulation.
The older the leaves, the better and more expensive !
The scent of fresh or ground Moxa is amazing…
You can also macerate Moxa in alcohol to make a tincture which will last for many years…
That’s the theory.
In practice, to feel the moxa cigar burning close to your skin is a DEEPLY RELAXING experience especially when used on pain points.
It warms them up and removes the energy blockage which causes the pain… It also provides a wonderful sleep!
When we introduce this therapy to visitors, we usually apply it first on the back of their neck where many people feel stiff and pain…
To see the surprise on their face after applying the Moxa cigar for just one minute is always wonderful, both for them and for us.
Last but not least, for Aromatherapy applications, we also distillate the Moxa leaves to make a fabulous Hydrosol and Essential oil, but to get any essential oil, we need a lot of plants…
Moxa is an important part of our ABET training (Asian Bio-Energetic Therapy) which we teach once a year during 7 weeks, (October-November). We will spend one intensive but lovely week on Moxa theory and some practice, plus another 2 to 3 weeks on practice only.
